This is great! Last night, Tobi finished up Shopify’s integration with Google Checkout. Since we have had so many people ask about this feature, it’s great to get it online. For those of you who don’t know Google Checkout allows you to store all your credit card information and shipping information with your Google account then use it when buying from stores that integrate with Google checkout. This means buying from Shopify stores just got a lot easier for buyers since they only have to keep credit card info in one spot.
Sellers also have reasons to be happy. Stores that use Google Checkout can reduce their credit card rates if they also use Google AdWords. For every $1 you spend on AdWords, you can process $10 in sales for free. If you don’t use AdWords you can process transactions at 2% with a 20 cent charge per transaction. Lastly, you can also go to Google Checkout to review your purchase history and track your order and shipping information in one place.
If you’re a Shopify users, you should really consider making Google Checkout one of your payment options. The only downside at the moment is that it is only available for US customers.
