Sarah Petty and Erin Verbeck (the co-founders of The Joy of Marketing) specialize in helping boutique shop owners make the most of their marketing efforts. In the first 15 minute episode you will learn:

When getting people to sign up for your newsletter (or whatever), always ask for permission. Be clear with what you’re going to do with their information and never try and trick people into giving you their e-mail!
Reward them for signing up. Here’s where freebies come in handy. Give them something cool and useful. Of course, what you give depends on the kind of online store you own, but some examples might be a recipe, tips and tricks, a design..etc..etc..
Set up a proper e-mail marketing program. Mailchimp is great (especially for beginners), and Campaign Monitor is awesome for the more advanced user. Integrate either one of these services with your Shopify store by using our App Store: Chimpified and Campaign Monitor. Shopify also allows you to capture customer e-mail information at checkout. Effectively communicate with your audience to keep them as subscribers. Never bombard them with sales pitches and never, EVER give their info to 3rd parties!
