British shoppers make 13.5% of their purchases online, compared to roughly 5% in the United States.
In fact, the United Kingdom is leading the world in ecommerce. Their digital economy is growing at a rate of 10.9% a year. British shoppers are buying more online, and retailers are opening online stores and selling their wares in droves.
Last week we launched our Build-A-Business Competition, which encourages and helps entrepreneurs build online stores, and gives them the tools to succeed along the way. Big budget sites with lots of resource and expertise thrown at them. Comments from companies designed to market their own sites. Cynical? Moi?My experience at the entry-level end of the market hasn’t been so great … issues with gateways, VAT and shipping … almost at the point where where we switch to another product.
