British shoppers make 13.5% of their purchases online, compared to roughly 5% in the United States.

In fact, the United Kingdom is leading the world in ecommerce. Their digital economy is growing at a rate of 10.9% a year. British shoppers are buying more online, and retailers are opening online stores and selling their wares in droves.

Last week we launched our Build-A-Business Competition, which encourages and helps entrepreneurs build online stores, and gives them the tools to succeed along the way. In addition to receiving mentorship from Tim Ferriss, Eric Ries, Daymond John & Tina Roth Eisenberg, competitors will have a chance to win one of four prize packs - including a $50K investment, a VIP trip for two to NYC to meet the mentors, $20K in Google AdWords credits, and a feature article in Fast Company. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom; find all the details here.
