Uh guys?
Earlier today we discovered that KroeisMedia, a design company in Denmark, was featuring the Shopify site as part of their portfolio of developed sites.
“KroeisMedia’s vision is to design as userfriendly websites as possible. We are able to provide high-end quality design for your project. Below have we listed some of our recent projects [...]”
If you can believe your eyes, Shopify is the first site featured! Funny because we never sent a cheque to Denmark. In fact the designer of Shopify.com was none other than Justin Palmer of Encytemedia.
Kroeismedia had nothing to do with it.Amazing. If you’re going to claim that you have designed sites that you obviously didn’t, why would you use a site as popular and as well known as Shopify.

Have you contacted them about it? I can’t believe people who are so blatant in their IP theft and lies. No wonder so many people don’t trust “professionals” in our industry.
Hopefully you’ll be able to convince their host to yank their site even though they’re overseas.

perhaps as a placeholder in a new design? that looks pretty barren in that pic.

Apparently I am also a victim. Imitation is the finest form of flattery? Sadly, flattered isn’t the word that comes to mind…

I think if it was a placeholder graphic it wouldn’t say shopify.com right underneath.

I don’t believe anything within that portfolio is theirs. Very sad.

Hello,
Im the CEO of KroeisMedia.com.
We have now changed our portfolio. We have used external designers and after we received an email we contacted our external designers and they couldnt provide evidence that they have created these sites.
We are VERY sorry and we will demand evidence for coming designers.
Best Regards,
Jonas

Isn’t that always the case when they get caught? Seriously. Everytime some one points out they are being ripped off and that person (or persons) realizes they were caught, they say “we hired freelancers/external designers to do the work”.
People, start accepting responsibility of your actions! This is an unacceptable response and you should be doing more from the get go to insure this doesn’t happen. If you truly are hiring outside help (which I don’t believe for a second you are, but in the rare case you are) VERIFY the information!

I agree with Jason… it’s a lame excuse, very immature, and it is used all the time.
Notice this: by looking at the web site I can tell you one thing. This is no “company”. This is a guy called Jonas Kroeis trying to get noticed. There’s absolute no evidence in his web site that he’s done anything whatsoever other that trying to sell a couple of domains. That’s what he wanted to do so he made the Shopify move.
If I where you, I would delete this post and stop giving this guy publicity. Or at least, remove the his company name, logo, and comment.
He has removed the Shopify reference so you’ve done your job.

This reminded me of a recent story I saw about Nepalese Airlines advertising using a poster that said, “Have you seen Nepal?” that had a large picture of Machu Picchu in the background.
How disappointing would it be to get all the way to Nepal to see Machu Picchu only to find out you would have needed to go to Peru on a different continent?
Always check your sources! ;)

I feel so embarrased being a dane, and seeing this.
Damnit, why can’t people just keep their greasy little paws to themselves.

a) That’s hilarious
b) Jonas is talking crap anyway.
Even if the designer HAD designed the Shopify site – his company hadn’t. So it’s a lie either way. He’s got no right to say his company did work that they didn’t.
If that ever happens again, then rather than post on the blog I’d suggest contacting his ISP and getting them to block the account full-stop. He’ll def. be violating their T&Cs.

PS – Did I mention I designed the whole of BBC.co.uk?
;o)
