External Referral Program - Terms & Conditions

Residents of Canada and the United States who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and legally authorized to work in Canada, or the United States are eligible to participate in the Program. Current Shopify employees*, current Shopify contractors*, third party recruiters and recruitment agencies/vendors are not eligible for this Program.

The Referrer will not be eligible to participate in the Program if the submission of a Referral could possibly, in Shopify’s sole discretion, constitute a conflict of interest, or violation of any non-solicitation obligation or other obligation by Shopify.

The Program only applies to Referrals hired into full time positions at Shopify.

A Referral is eligible if they are professionally and/or personally known to the Referrer. By participating in the Program, the Referrer guarantees that their Referral is aware of the submission.

A Referral is not eligible if they already exist in Shopify's recruiting database or if Shopify’s recruiting team has contacted the Referral in the 90 days prior to Referral submission.

Referrers must submit their Referrals and all required information by clicking on "Refer a Friend" in the relevant job description found on Shopify’s Careers page.

Referrals may then be contacted to confirm their interest in the specified role, and will then be required to accept such referral via email and apply directly to Shopify for the specified role. Only Referrals who properly complete this process may be considered by Shopify.

Referrers will not be contacted during the hiring process, even if their Referral is hired by Shopify. Referrals will remain active for a period of six (6) months from the initial referral. Shopify may evaluate the Referral and is not required to interview or otherwise process this Referral. Shopify does not provide any bonus, incentive or any other kind of benefit in exchange for Referrals.

All hiring decisions will be made at the sole discretion of Shopify. Self-referrals will not be accepted. If you are interested in a role, please apply directly by visiting shopify.com/careers.

Shopify reserves the right, at any time and in its sole and exclusive discretion, to modify, change, suspend or cancel the Program at its discretion without prior notice or further obligation. By continuing to participate in the Program you shall be deemed to accept same.
