About the role

If you’re switching careers or are a recent university or college graduate and have a strong interest in sales, apply for our four-month paid sales training program - Revenue School - to set you up for success in your career. Successful applicants will be joining our upcoming program start date of January 30th, 2023. 

As a Revenue School Associate, you will learn the fundamental skills to be a world-class sales professional. You’ll also learn about Shopify’s products and the tech and SaaS environment. The Revenue School program in the Shopify School of Commerce has been designed to give you a best-in-class learning experience in one of the most innovative companies in the world to launch your professional career. You’ll learn sales - including inbound and outbound skills - through coaching, hands-on assignments, facilitator-led training, asynchronous modules, job shadowing, and mentorship. 

Although our roots are in e-commerce, Shopify technology extends much further than our world-class e-commerce platform. Our growing sales teams work directly with notable brands and entrepreneurs to develop their commerce strategies — whether that is starting or expanding their brick & mortar operations or tapping into the millions of consumers that use Shop Pay as their preferred payment method. 

We are revolutionizing how we work and support our merchants by operating in a fully distributed work-from-home “digital by design” environment as we build the future of commerce. 
 
If you are a high performer in the program, there is a possibility to build a career with a company that will continually provide opportunities for growth. You will be helping business owners create those same opportunities within their businesses as you support  them to leverage all that Shopify can offer. Successful completion of the program does not guarantee full-time employment, and is subject to a fair assessment of performance.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate of a college or university program OR have 2+ years of work experience
  • You have hustle, are curious, and have a passion for entrepreneurship 
  • You have a deep interest in working in sales or the revenue organization
  • Be based in North America and are fluent in spoken and written English
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada or the United States

In this paid training program, you will:

  • Participate in our world-class onboarding built to set our new sales hires up for success from day one 
  • Learn core sales skills like high-impact messaging, prospecting, cold calling, discovery, and objection handling
  • Learn to use sales tools like Salesforce, Salesloft, and Gong
  • Gain a deep understanding of Shopify and our business model, the markets we operate in, and our suite of products built to help our merchants grow
  • Receive professional development training on personal branding,  empathy, networking and relationship building, and stress management
  • Get first-hand experience putting your new skills into action with a 6-8 week assignment on a sales team - this will include shadowing, prospecting, contacting merchants, and on-the-job coaching with a sales coach
  • Be the first point of contact during your assignment, creating an incredible first impression and connecting prospects with an account executive through qualifying conversations

The shape of a Shopify career

Ben joined Shopify as a frontline Support Advisor with no background in programming or computer science. He’s now a Director of Engineering. Spanning 10 jobs on 7 teams in 9 years, Ben’s Shopify career path has twisted and turned as he’s worked relentlessly to pursue a career as an engineer and adapted to the pace of change—all fuelled by personal and professional hypergrowth.
