About the role

As our ANZ Experiential Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for marketing Shopify across APAC through experiences that engage merchants and create emotional attachment, both IRL and virtually. The objective is to drive strategies, messaging, and activation plans for projects including, but not limited to, events, installations, branded experiences, and 3rd-party sponsorships. 

With a laser focus on creating memorable experiences that drive impact, you will be a part of the APAC Experiential (XM) Marketing Team that aims to bring Shopify to life. This is a key role that will work between many different teams to help define our local market strategies across ANZ. You will work closely with various marketing functions such as Demand Generation, Partnerships, Merchant Community & Engagement, Product GTM, Content and Digital; as well as teams within the wider Shopify organisation, including Sales, PR, Technical Services, Merchant Success & Marketing UX.

You’re comfortable working in a cross-functional and fast-paced environment. You thrive on change and can navigate ambiguity, in order to move our team vision and company mission forward. You will have a unique opportunity to build a portfolio of creative and impactful events and experiences in ANZ that provide merchants with the resources to help them grow and scale. 

The role may require frequent travel throughout ANZ and occasionally Internationally. 

Please note that the ideal candidate should be located in Sydney or Melbourne only.


  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define experiential marketing strategies and tactics to support ANZ business objectives and connect with key regional audience segments

  • Understanding of market positioning and how to work within brand guardrails while catering to the local ANZ market. This includes staying informed by building strong relationships with marketing, sales, business development, partnerships and merchants to better inform your decisions

  • Own project management and execution of event programs end-to-end including development of strategy briefs, schedules, production, logistics, budget, and reporting 

  • Lead internal cross-functional ANZ project teams (creative, PR, demand gen etc.) and maintain consistency in strategic direction throughout planning and execution  

  • Align with Demand Generation, Product GTM and Digital Marketing programs to generate pipeline 

  • Help identify new B2B marketing opportunities with ANZ 

  • Negotiate contracts and manage 3rd-party vendors including off-site venues, AV suppliers, caterers and others 

  • Manage external vendor relationships including agencies and freelancers as needed 

  • Along with the APAC Experiential Marketing team, build the APAC events calendar to support our growth objectives  

  • Develop and deliver best-in-class event campaigns and initiatives for merchants, running the spectrum from small and intimate to large-scale standout user experiences both internally and externally 

  • Work and collaborate with various channel owners across platforms and mediums (social media, content, newsletter, email, etc.) to help build out strong marketing campaigns that drive measurable impact 

  • Find speakers and panellists to be involved across regional events 

  • Assess the effectiveness of your ANZ initiatives, reporting on success metrics, insights, acquisition progression and recommendations 

  • Maintain accuracy and accountability of experiential budget, manage final billing and reconciliation, evaluate results against goals, deliver wrap-up reports, and generate learnings for improvement 

  • Create, develop and execute brand awareness campaigns that are relevant to the ANZ market and will drive results 



  • Experience in events, experiential and brand marketing with clear and significant business impact.

  • Exposure to B2B, SaaS and Technology Platforms 

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills while being able to stay focused on the big picture and pay attention to details 

  • Ability to work collaboratively across global teams, functions and timezones 

  • Demonstrates strong brand instincts, versatility and point of view 

  • A passion for customer experience and brand building, delivered through digital and IRL marketing experiences

  • A quick learner, self-motivated, ambitious, and detail-oriented

  • Ability to thrive in uncertainty, resolve ambiguity and think quickly on your feet

  • A resourceful attitude and positive negotiation skills - you'll be working with a lot of different teams across Shopify and external partners

  • Strong project management and communication skills are essential 

  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in an incredibly fast-paced environment. Being intentional and adapting on the fly 

  • Proficient in switching between high-level strategic thinking and detail-oriented work

  • Flexibility in being able to travel interstate (potentially overseas) and work across timezones
