About the role

As a Competitive Intelligence (CI) Specialist, you’ll be a part of a group supporting European Sales, Business Development, and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams. This role will be focused on the intersection between Competitive Intelligence and Sales by partnering with experts to collect, create, and share actionable competitive insights while shaping GTM tactics and strategies.  The CI Specialist will be responsible for building competitive positioning, establishing outbound targeting strategies, providing deal intelligence, and helping to create sales and marketing campaigns. When successful, this role will accelerate merchant acquisition, and increase competitive win rates.

Responsibilities:

  • Become a competitive expert. Serve as the go-to-resource for understanding where our competitors are focused, and the strengths and weaknesses of their offerings as compared to Shopify.

  • Lead the proactive competitive intelligence initiative. Monitor news and industry sources to have a nuanced understanding of the competitive landscape - and identify when competitive opportunities arise.

  • Size identified opportunities to leverage across Sales, Business Development, and GTM. Work with stakeholders to build positioning, source leads, create outbound sales and marketing campaigns.

  • Expand competitive battlecard content, providing further insight into product comparisons, competitor claims, objection handling, sales strategies, and more. 

  • Be a primary point of contact between Sales and Competitive Intelligence. Build a roster of internal competitive experts across the organization and manage those relationships within Europe.

  • Serve as an expert resource and work with sales teams on key competitive opportunities.

  • Utilize an array of tools and research methods to understand the European commerce market.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience serving in a Business Development, Account Management, Sales Enablement, and/or Sales Team with a competitive focus OR Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Product Marketing function.

  • Familiar with B2B SaaS sales cycles, funnels, KPIs, and organizational dynamics.

  • Knowledge of the e-commerce industry and the players within the competitive landscape preferred.

  • Experience in conducting primary market research that drove actionable insights.

  • Proactive, independent thinker with high energy and positive attitude working amongst the chaos of diving into a new market 

  • Proven ability to find unique and efficient approaches to developing and delivering a plan and continually looking for a better way to do things

  • Deep interest in analyzing data and the ability to see beyond the numbers

  • Desire to work in a team environment where you make each other better

  • Have an impact; be involved and do something incredible

  • Great communicator, with anticipation and desire to be highly visible internally
