About the role

The Shopify Global Revenue RnD team is tasked with ensuring an exceptional merchant experience from the start and throughout their entire journey; identifying new opportunities and influencing change to take advantage of those; and, helping accelerate the growth of our largest merchants. 

We are looking for a proven leader to join Revenue R&D and build a team that will support the technology needs of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) businesses with a view to growing the number of CPGs who are Shopify merchants. 

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Revenue R&D team in the capacity of Consumer Packaged Goods technology lead you will:

  • Gather contextual information quickly, functioning well in ambiguous situations; 

  • Attain an in-depth understanding of the product, service, and technological landscape  of Shopify; 

  • Build strong relationships within Revenue R&D and across Shopify; 

  • Work with teams across organizational boundaries to support the needs of large merchants;

  • Build a diverse team of technical and non-technical professionals focused on addressing the needs of the CPG industry within Shopify; and,

  • Work with internal Shopify teams to understand the processes, experiences, challenges, and needs of the CPG industry and identify opportunities to partner with and build / prototype commerce integrations and solutions.

Additionally, in this role you will: 

  • Use your passion for negotiation and influencing to obtain support from the organization to build the needed capabilities that will attract CPGs to Shopify;

  • Champion projects and initiatives that support Shopify’s sales team in pursuing CPG opportunities;

  • Map out a long term technology and service strategy to drive successful penetration into the CPG space in support of our global CPG business team.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance or business discipline along with an MS/MBA, or equivalent experience;

  • A track record of building out teams, systems and processes in large technology organizations; 

  • Minimum 10 years of driving large scale cross-organizational initiatives, and driving team accountability to achieve impactful goals

  • An understanding of the CPG industry trends, especially Direct-to-Consumer

  • Strong Product Management experience
