We're looking for a multi-skilled Marketing Designer to join the team that is helping to guide Shopify's global shipping & fulfillment platform strategy.  Moving physical goods from one place to another is a complex business and changing fast. Our team has already vastly improved shipping for our merchants - with your help, they will be able to move even more quickly, extending what has already been built and transforming shipping and fulfillment at Shopify.

As a designer on the shipping team, you’ll work directly with a diverse team of marketing specialists, and UX researchers, as well as front-end developers, other designers and content specialists.  You’ll be primarily focused on growing the number of Shopify merchants who use shipping services, as well as educating and communicating with merchants who already use our shipping solution.   Thousands of users will see your work everyday – a tough but incredibly rewarding responsibility.

You’ll be working on multiple types of projects with clear conversion goals in mind, and you’ll need to have a data-oriented mindset to know what’s most important to work on when.   In fact, you’ll be working with our Data & Analytics team regularly to inform and improve your work; so you should be familiar with designing experiments and used to unpacking insights from the data team.

You’ll be working on;

  • Designing end to end advertising experiences
  • Landing pages for SEO and conversion
  • Building tools to help entrepreneurs
  • Microsites aimed at target audiences
  • Email marketing campaigns
  • International sites
  • Online guides and help assets

You’ll need to have;

  • A data-informed approach to design - you’ve used tools and resources needed to measure success of design decisions (A/B testing tools, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • A marketing-oriented mindset.  You’ve had the chance to really understand what motivates users and are interested in providing them with solutions that work for them, as well as for Shopify.
  • A scrappy, resourceful approach to projects - you’re proactive and great at self assigning tasks.
  • A distaste for lorem ipsum - caring about getting the copy right needs to be a priority.
  • A soft spot for the end user - advocating for them in all areas of your work is core to what you do.
  • An understanding that great experiences come from collaborative decision-making with marketers, front-end developers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, and other disciplines.
  • A passion for solving design problems while wearing multiple hats and owning all facets of design (content strategy, wireframing, art direction, and interaction design)
  • Proficiency with design & prototyping tools (Sketch, Photoshop, InVision, etc.), as well as knowledge of HTML and CSS.
