About the role

We’re looking for a Director of Product Management to join our channels team within merchant services. Your goal is to drive Shopify’s growth through top marketing and sales channels across social, search and entertainment destinations. This means driving revenue growth for Shopify merchants across these channels by helping them promote and sell their products multi-channel and - most importantly - the value merchants get out of Shopify. You’ll own the strategy and execution, leading product and working closely with marketing, engineering, UX, and commercial teams to build and optimize across channels. 

In this role, you will be responsible for setting the product strategy for Shopify channels product across the largest social and entertainment destinations in the world, and executing on it. You will be responsible for leading, inspiring and influencing a team of engineers, UX designers, and product managers to execute on your vision of growth.

Responsibilities: 

  • Be accountable for building products that drive and optimize growth for Shopify’s Merchants via third party channels

  • Drive the product vision and strategy to help merchants discover the most effective marketing and sales channels to reach new buyers, and grow their business

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to your team as they execute on your vision for partnerships

  • Make it happen, by launching new product features to market, thereby driving value to Shopify’s merchants 

  • Hire the best people to grow your team as the needs of the business evolve.

  • Work effectively across internal and external stakeholders, including S/VPs of Product in external partner organisations, to deliver on shared objectives and KPIs

  • Create a culture of high-performance, creativity, and continual learning on your team

  • Collaborate across teams within Shopify to ensure that products are built for the long term

  • Using data to inform your product roadmap

You need experience:

  • 12+ years of experience in product management or allied domains

  • Extensive product management experience and leadership in a fast-paced company where things can change quickly.

  • Technical and have built platforms and foundational products at scale to serve diverse customers, and have owned product life cycle from conception to launch to market fit

  • Comfort diving deep into the data to understand opportunities to increase visibility and value for Shopify’s merchants on partner platforms

  • A highly collaborative approach with excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of building and powering your “trust battery” with the team and fellow leaders.

  • You build great teams, inspire your people, and have a long list of high performers who want to be on your team.

  • The ability to zoom in and zoom out. Leading at Shopify requires the range to be deep in the weeds with your team, while also seeing and communicating the big picture to our exec team and stakeholders.

  • Multi-disciplinary experience - you have the ability to lead and influence designers, developers, marketers, and customers in an agile environment

  • A desire to own and deliver on a number. You are used to being accountable for a target and know how to consistently deliver.

Nice to have

  • Demonstrate thought leadership capabilities and a strong ability to think and communicate strategically on the future of commerce

  • SaaS product experience

  • Experience in large global organizations and smaller startups
