About the role
The Shopify Retail Partnerships team is responsible for how Shopify’s brick and mortar business (or more precisely, the brick and mortar aspect of our omnichannel business) works with other companies. On the product side, we innovate, build, and integrate with the companies and technologies that matter to Retail merchants. On the growth side, we work with partners to get the benefits of Shopify’s POS into the hands of as many merchants as possible.
We are looking for a leader who can help us expand our current growth partnerships and build new ones in your region. You will be responsible for sourcing/building/maintaining partner relationships, executing global programs to drive growth, and creating your own programs to meet the unique realities of the markets you own.
You are passionate about the future of retail and bullish about the role in-person selling will continue to play/the ways it will evolve as it does so. You understand partner sales channels and have experience driving different types of partners to tangible growth goals.
Own the overall partner sales number for your region. This includes outlining a strategic roadmap for merchant acquisitions, considering all partner types available in the region. Developing an operational plan to implement defined strategy and owning the delivery of the targets (net new merchant acquisition.)
Source and sign new partners, create programs around new types of partnerships.
Engage, educate, assist partners, whether they are in-person retail experts or brand-new to the space. This includes implementing actionable sales enablement plans with partners to drive merchant engagement and acquisition.
Balance making sure we’re delivering today with planning how we scale tomorrow.
Collaborate with the rest of Shopify – to succeed you will need to build relationships across marketing, sales, product, data, other partnerships teams… the list goes on.
Developing infrastructure to be able to deliver on strategies.
Assess the effectiveness of your regional initiatives. Report on success metrics, insights, and recommendations.
Considerable experience in sales, business development and/or partnerships, with experience running partnership programs that operate in both a 1:1 model and 1: many model.
Experience in operationally building out processes & infrastructure, especially building programs from scratch
Ability to thrive in uncertainty, resolve ambiguity and think quickly on your feet
Excellent communication and organizational skills while being able to stay focused on the big picture and pay attention to details
Knowledge of how to develop go-to-market strategies with multiple types of organizations
Proven results in operationalizing an effective partnership program.
As comfortable executing existing strategy as you are building programs from scratch.
Intimate understanding of the retail tech landscape in your region.
Proficient in data and operational management (project management, data analysis, CRM, operational planning, etc).
