About the role
Our UX team has a strong voice in product strategy and works closely with engineers and product managers to build experiences that define the future of commerce. You’re given a problem and the autonomy to solve it, contributing right from the project’s conception. It means that we want you to experiment, move fast, fail quickly, learn, and pivot as you try new ideas.
As a UX Manager, you’ll be responsible for the overall experience quality for a set of products and workflows. You will lead a multidisciplinary UX team made up of product designers, content designers, and product researchers to deliver the best possible experience for our merchants around the world. You’ll work alongside product managers and engineering teams to explore, build, and launch your ideas.
You’ll be working on:
Leading UX for a product team, establishing clear definitions of quality to enable your team to ship exceptional user experiences on your projects.
Developing baseline knowledge in all our UX disciplines (Research, Product Design, and Content Design) and deep expertise in your product area.
Developing and shipping with speed and consistency. We have immediate needs to deliver on our product roadmap today, while setting the vision for tomorrow.
Leading your teams through a fast-moving landscape while also providing growth opportunities
Contributing to our Polaris design system in an effort to cultivate a coherent look and feel across the entire Shopify platform
Qualifications
Managed a team of product designers in a multidisciplinary UX environment, and were responsible for their mentorship and career development
Experience recruiting and building diverse UX or Product Design teams
Extensive knowledge of the end-to-end iterative product design process, including how to develop and use personas, job stories, journey mapping, content modelling, wireframing and prototyping, user testing, and high fidelity visuals
A deep empathy for the user and a desire to learn as much as possible about how they use Shopify on every platform
Excellent communication and storytelling skills; you have the ability to help your team and stakeholders understand the “why” behind your design rationale
