Esqido Lashes

Founded in 2013, ESQIDO was a project two years in the making. In the false lashes market, consumers were either stuck paying for cheap (or pricey brand names), mass-produced plastic lashes that were wasteful, and single-use, or overpaying for individual lash extensions in a beauty salon.

We thought we could bring a better product to the market at a reasonable price point. So we set out to create the ultimate pair of lashes, custom designed in Toronto, Canada.

Every pair, and every strand, is individually handcrafted, using only the finest renewable materials; ethically sourced mink hairs.

As a result, we've created gorgeous lashes that can be reused up to 25 times, creating less waste, and saving our customers more money.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

Our main focus was to get our product out to influencers. We truly believe that we have a top shelf product, and it deserves the attention of the top beauty bloggers, youtubers, and makeup artists around the world.

Once we started seeding out our products, things started to take off. Women everywhere started talking about our lashes, and our signature white and rose gold packaging started to make the rounds on popular social media channels.

Of all of the social networks, we found Youtube to bring the highest conversion for our business, followed by Instagram. As a beauty product, it makes sense that channels with strong visuals will help sell our product.

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

Shipwire has been instrumental in delivering a global distribution network for us to serve our customers world-wide. With their network of warehouses, we are able to provide quick and easy order processing and reduce shipping times to our customers, while tracking and issuing return packages all through their web portal. Logistically, it's helped us streamline our operations and it's been very effective.

What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?

Out of all of the e-commerce platforms we've tried previously, Shopify is by far the easiest to use, and its liquid templating engine is incredibly powerful, and allowed us to execute our vision for our website down to the finest detail. This is crucial to us as a premium brand, first impressions are everything.

Combined with their vast library of integrations, Shopify simplifies our daily workflow, and saves us a tremendous amount of time.

For new business owners out there, I would strongly advise you to seed your products out to as many high quality influencers as you can, that are relevant to your business, as it will help your product quickly gain exposure and drive potential sales.

Best of luck to all entrepreneurs out there!
