It's the holy grail of branding when your customers are so invested in your vision they are eager to tell everyone they know. In this lesson, Jean François Bouchard shares where you need to begin in order to create your passionate (unpaid) marketing team.

[MUSIC PLAYING] JEAN-FRANCOIS BOUCHARD: Very often, people measure the success of a brand in marketing terms and sales, in terms of sales, which is obviously true in the long run. But in the if from the get go, your brand does not create a cult of followers, and even if you do the most mundane thing, it should be done in a way that creates a following.
And if it doesn't, well, it means that you're selling, but it doesn't necessarily mean that your branding. I think that's a very savvy entrepreneurs these days they fully understand the importance of culture and the storytelling that will translate culture into communications. And they understand that they're trying to build a community and that the ultimate expression of having a community is having the members of the community help you market your brand.
So I think that if you're an entrepreneur today, of course, you need to deliver numbers. But you should never let numbers, even success on that front, cloud the fact that you're building a brand. And building a brand is not just about fancy visuals, some amazing brands actually have pretty crappy communications.
But they're extremely good at understanding what's their place in the world and what they're doing in that world beyond simply selling stuff. And that's what each entrepreneur should, first and foremost, think about when thinking about marketing. [MUSIC PLAYING]
