Product pages. You're learning so many new words, like had you ever said product pages before you started this course? One of the things I love about entrepreneurship, you get to expand your vocabulary. By the end of this lesson, you'll know what a product page is, and you'll also know how to make a really good one. It showcases a single product. It contains a product description, photos, sometimes reviews, and always add to cart button.
Just a quick reminder about the marketing funnel that you'll build later on, you're going to run Facebook ads that direct traffic to your product page, not your homepage, this trips up a lot of beginners. You're directing traffic to your product page because you want the customer to go from seeing your ad to clicking buy ASAP. You don't want to make them browse around and you also want to make that product page great.
It needs to convince customers to buy your product right now. So let me show you how to create a great product page in Shopify. From the Shopify admin click products on the left hand side, and you'll see a list of all the products that you imported to your Shopify store with Oberlo in the last two lessons. As an example, I'll edit this bike seat cushion. So I'll click on that. As you can see, Oberlo automatically imported the bike seats long, weird keyword stuffed product name, and it's disjointed description from AliExpress.
Don't you dare use the AliExpress name or description customers hate it. It's confusing. And it's such a turnoff and it's so, so simple to edit this stuff. I'll show you how you want your product names to be short, clear, and simple. It should be obvious what your product is and even better, if it's obvious what problem your product solves. I'll use some of the keywords from AliExpress, but I'm going to shorten it. So I'm going to name this product, 3D gel bike seat cushion.
Now let's talk about product descriptions. Remember back when you were doing your product research, one of the criteria was that the product solves a problem. And one of the reasons you were looking for that kind of product is it makes it way easier to write product descriptions, because what you want to do with your product description is describe that customer problem in painful detail. And then describe in relieving sweetness, how the product solves that problem I'll show you what I mean with this bike seat. To remind customers of the problem, this product solves, I'll write, you love cycling, but long commutes and rough roads can be a literal pain in the butt.
Then I want to introduce the product as the solution. So this is what i'll write, the solution, our 3D gel bike seat cushion. This is where I like to add a little description so that the customers can really imagine the moment they use this product. So this is what I wrote. Simply stretch it over your bike seat before your next commute or cycling tour, then enjoy cycling in comfort without the pain of a hard, uncomfortable bike saddle. The 3D gel bike seat cushion will save your butt.
Forgive me for all the butt puns. Next I want to describe product features and I'll do that in a bulleted list. My bulleted list says 3D contour jealousy makes for a comfortable ride, stretches over any bike seat use for daily commutes or long cycling tours. Reflective tab on the back keeps you visible and safe unisex perfect for male and female cyclists and machine washable. Now, lastly, and this is important. I'm going to add a last line that talks about shipping times.
So I'll write something like due to popular demand. This product takes between 20 and 30 days to reach customers. Once you have your description done, you still have some finishing touches to make on your product page. On the right, you'll see an organization tab. You'll also see a vendor field and it probably has the name of your Shopify admin, not your new fancy business name you just bought up. Delete the admin name and go ahead and write your new business name and add it as one of the vendors. Now move to the images section. Oberlo, imported these images from your AliExpress supplier.
You may want to move these around. The important thing is that the first image that customers see is a really clear product photo. If you ordered sample products from AliExpress, as I highly advise you do the now time to take product photos. When you take your own product photos, you stand out from the other stores that are selling this same product.
Plus product photos are a great way for you to express your brand beyond just the colors and fonts you choose for your website. Now you don't need to mess with anything else in your product page, just hit save, and then you can press preview. And now you can see your product page is really starting to come together with great photos and a compelling description. If you see some elements on this preview, that's still look out of place. Don't worry.
We still have more work to do to tighten up your whole webpage before we go live. Okay. Now that you know how to create great product pages, it's time to create great product pages for all five products in your store. To make your work easier. I've created a product description template, and you can use this template right to ad-lib your way to great product descriptions. Just look for that template below this lesson, when you're done with your homework, join me in the next lesson.
When we'll build your stores homepage.
