[MUSIC PLAYING] OK. So what do you do if you feel like you have not progressed at all in achieving that goal at that time line? Well, you have to reassess. Why didn't you move at all? Was there something in your way? Do you not have enough time? Did you not really care about it? I find that every single time that I've failed, there were one out of three things missing.
Number one-- that I'm not do enough homework on what I want to accomplish and how to get there? Number two-- if I wasn't the one, who was going to pull it off, did I hire and/or strategically partnered up with the right people who knew about what I wanted to accomplish and this industry? And number three-- that I have passion or did I love what I was going after?
Was I doing it for the right reason? Now the number three is the most important part because if I didn't love what I was going out or I had passion about it, guess what? I didn't do enough homework. I couldn't care less about it or I didn't find other people to help me with it because I still didn't care or had a passion about this and that's important. So I always reevaluate the goal.
And if you have 10 and 8 of them or 5 of them, you're really passionate about, then maybe you need to get rid of the others and home in on these you're always going to be adjusting but no matter what, reevaluate why you did not get to accomplish or even move forward on that goal you set? You may be saying to yourself, there's not enough time. What it all depends on what you value?
First of all, are you setting a goal? To make 40 calls a day to put in two hours a week, 10 hours a week, 15 hours a week to find strategic partners, understand your strengths and make sure you outsource your weaknesses. What is your goal and what is the method of actually you are going to take to accomplish it? I have to be realistic with you.
We're not all not going to get A on our report card but what is sacrifice? Do you need to sacrifice something else? This is a very personal decision that you have to make but you have to take inventory and your time is your inventory. We all think the big corporations are these visionary companies that know everything. They don't.
Ask BlackBerry. Ask Blockbuster. Ask Kodak. But let me tell you one thing. Entrepreneurs-- they really do have a vision. I'll tell you why? Because a true entrepreneur small business owner they know they have this much money to risk, this much time, this much inventory and they do the best they can do with their time today and the best they can do with their time tomorrow. Before you know they blink their eye and 15 years passes and you're a huge success.
But take inventory daily on how you're going to reach that big goal. Listen, I know you're like me, you're A type personality. That is why you're an entrepreneur. That is why you decide to take on the challenge and often we're always looking at the next rung to hold on to or how far we have to go. We are climbing Mount Everest and look at how much further we have to go because on social media everybody is living the most amazing life.
They're shown you all their sizzle reel instead of their blooper reel. But let me tell you something. As an entrepreneur, here's what you also need to do. Celebrate the small accomplishments, not about how far you have to go but how far you have come. You have to give gratitude. Here's a couple of ways that you can be grateful. You are in charge of your own destiny. And you know that your success or your failure is a direct correlation of the decisions that you made you have a supportive family, wife, son, husband, mother, friends in your community who're supporting what you're doing.
You're making change. You're seeing people smile all the time and tell you how you have positively affected their life. You know you're leaving it all on appeal and you have challenge yourself no matter what, you're employing other people, right? There are so many things that you could think about to realize, how grateful you should be for having this great opportunity. That will energize you to keep moving and keep moving and keep moving because that's what A type personalities like you and me, we do.
So congratulations on your success. Because trust me, you have already succeeded. Keep setting those goals as high as possible but keep celebrating the small accomplishments. Now that I've shown you how to set goals, I'm sure you're going to go out there master but I don't want you to keep it a secret. I want to make sure that you share this with the people you love, your team, your family, your kids. Show them, how to set goals.
It's going to make your life easier and they are than me so happy, that you share this information with them. But don't be judgmental because remember, everybody's goal is a personal thing that they want to accomplish. Allow them to fail but allow them also to set their own goals and you can't believe how happy you and your family will be. [MUSIC PLAYING]
