[MUSIC PLAYING] Shopify is a multi-channel commerce solution. So what does that mean? Quite simply, Shopify gives you the ability to sell your products offline in retail stores or pop-up shops or online, such as your website or a mobile app. One of the big advantages of using Shopify is your access to sales channels. Sales channels allows you to sell your products through different sites beyond your website.
You can set up a Facebook shop, allow people to purchase from your Pinterest page, or even sell your products in Amazon. Shopify becomes your business control center with your products getting in front of as many audiences as possible. Let's go to the dashboard, and I'll show you how to activate sales channels on your website. I'm going to show you how to add a sales channel to your store. From your Admin, click on the plus sign besides sales channels.
As you can see, there are various sales channels you can use to expand your customer reach. Some of the sales channels are free, others are paid, or take a small percentage of the sale. So let's install a sales channel together. Here you'll see a full list of the sales channels available to you. Select the sales channel you want to add. I'll show you how to add the point of sale channel now. This is a really important channel to add if you plan on selling in-person at all, for example, at a pop-up or at a market.
So here's that channel now. So all I do is click on the Add button. From here, you'll see a whole bunch of different setup options. The first is you can request a free card reader, which will work with your mobile device. This is how you'll be able to process payments in person, so make sure you click on that. You'll also need to install the POS, or point of sale, app on your phone or your tablet.
And this is what you'll see in the next section here. You can enter in your email or your phone number, and you'll be able to send a link directly to your phone or tablet to download the app. And then you'll see some additional options below if you have a retail store and need a point of sale hardware for that store. You can also setup multiple locations if you need to. You can add as many sales channels as you like.
I'd recommend starting with adding one or two and spending some time understanding which will work best for you and for your industry. After you've added your channel, follow the prompts to allow the information from your Shopify store to be shared with that sales channel.
