STEP ONE
Join the Shopify Partner Program and become a partner

STEP TWO
Build development stores for your clients
In the Shopify Partner Dashboard, you can create development stores which allow you to test any themes or apps you create, as well as set up new stores for your clients.
STEP THREE
Transfer the development stores to your clients
By March 31, 2026, the transfers must be done and your clients must select the Basic, Grow, Advanced, or Plus subscription plan.
STEP FOUR
Stores needs to remain active for at least 90 days
The stores must remain active, not be password protected, and reach a minimum of $1,000 USD in sales by June 30, 2026.

Yes, you must join the Shopify Partner Program in order to make merchant referrals and be eligible for the referral bonus offer. Only registered Shopify Partners can participate in this promotion. Sign up here.
Terms and Conditions
You’re eligible to receive a $500 USD reward for each development store referral, up to a maximum of ten (10) referrals, after:
1. The stores are built through development stores in the Shopify Partner Dashboard between January 1, 2026 and March 31, 2026.
2. Your clients select qualifying subscription plans (Basic, Grow, Advanced, or Plus) and make their first payments by March 31, 2026; and
3. The stores must be set live, accessible, and not gated by passwords by June 30, 2026, and must each achieve a minimum of $1,000 USD in sales by June 30, 2026. Merchants must meet the minimum sales requirement of $1,000 USD, considering only trusted (non-fraudulent) payments that are processed through Shopify or its partners. This excludes cash payment methods, such as cash-on-delivery.
Additional Details:
To be eligible for this referral bonus, agencies must first sign up to be a Shopify Partner. Eligible partners who meet all of the above criteria will automatically qualify to receive $500 USD per eligible merchant referral paid out to their Shopify Partner Dashboard (in addition to the standard referral commission) if they make the development store referrals between January 1, 2026 and March 31, 2026, and their referred merchant(s) meet the required $1,000 USD sales minimum by June 30, 2026.
This promotion is exclusive to new, select Shopify agency partners only. Only those partners who have received the offer communication directly from Shopify are eligible to participate. Promotion valid until 11:59 pm EST on March 31, 2026.
Please allow 2 - 4 weeks after June 30, 2026 for the payout to appear in your Partner Dashboard.
Self transfer or self referrals are not eligible for the offer.
This offer cannot be combined with other Shopify offers.
The final decision to grant Shopify Plus referral commissions is at Shopify’s discretion.
