~Mastery Cycle
This is our bi-annual cycle of performance reviews with the opportunity for ~Mastery to increase 2x per year based on assessments of your skill, craft excellence, and the resulting impact on the organization. Achieving higher ~Mastery is a promotion at Shopify.
Agency
You’re in control of your compensation mix. Adjust your cash and equity balance as it makes sense for you and your risk tolerance*.
Equity is granted quarterly and vests monthly. It’s simple to understand and you have permanent visibility of your allocation in your personal Rewards Wallet.
Flexibility
There are 4 election windows (one each quarter) where you can optimize your compensation by allocating your Total Rewards*. This can include a mix of cash, restricted share units, and stock options to match your current life situation and priorities, including programs like Long-Term Equity. Maybe you’re buying a house, or planning for long-term investment, or for no reason at all — we don’t need to know!
