I started Bewdly Coffee Company back in the start of September. I read a great article about how to decide what to sell and it listed two things to look for in a product:
1) Something you enjoy.
2) Something on your most recent bank statement.
For me, coffee fit both these criteria, so that's when my research began!
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
First sales for Bewdly came simply from friends asking about it, and what I was up to as a side project. I then began targeting product review blogs, and now, after being featured on a few larger blogs, sales are continuing! I haven't paid for any forms of advertising so far.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
Firstly I use Shopify to handle everything. The platform is just great. I use the orders export functionality that I then send to my supplier. Besides that, my favourite apps are Yotpo Social Reviews, as well as Gleam to run competitions.
What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?
Avoid paying for advertising - you really don't need to at the start. Once your product starts to sell, you'll notice it will start to gain traction through word of mouth.
