BURRO, the pack animal of the South, uses large flapped bags slung over his back to commute and travel wherever he pleases. In our lives, we needed a bag that was durable, comfortable and convenient.
With the abilities of our owners the first BURRO Bag was created from American sourced materials, recycled billboard and handmade in Jacksonville, FL. Word of mouth started this business and expansion became a necessity. 6 years later and every product is still handmade from American sourced materials and we sell our products internationally.
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
Shopify was an upgrade our business really needed. A streamlined way that allows our entire staff the ability to handle website content, sales, and shipping and tracking.
Social Media has become our most profitable tool and Shopify allows us to link customer photos and updated tweets to constantly stay in sync with our customers. Instagram tops the charts with most direct sales from impressions.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
Every app that connects our social media and analytics to the website is linked to our account.
Ordercup is a great way to track outside sales through our custom page. And tracking packages through the main system is so easy. We're lucky to have great FedEx and USPS guys who swing by the shop to ship out packages everyday.
Our customers love being kept up to date with email notifications and tracking numbers and always arrive intact and on time.
What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?
Top recommendation: Promote yourself using every outlet available to you. Remember to create new engaging content and that customer service is number 1. We have all our staff participate and highlight different areas of our business to keep readers coming back for more. We're lucky to have such a supportive community of customers, locally and internationally.
