We are very particular with who we do business with and import from and make a huge effort to buy in a way that will sustain the culture where the pieces originated.
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
Social Media is a beast ! Instagram is my number one channel of reaching my client. We are currently at 105k followers just in two short years. We are a three man team and with the facade a website and instagram allows us to be known as a major contender in the fashion industry.
We wanted to put pressure on the jewelry "designers" that were taking tribal jewelry and calling it their own. Starting a wave of enlightened consumers to not put up with the stealing and copying in fashion.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
We only use ordercup and mailchimp. Should probably spend more time and research some needed improvements !
What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?
1. Most importantly, create a unique space. Spend the money on a great looking website. Fashion is the most saturated and completive market. Create a niche.
2. Focus on content. Clients want to emotionally invest in what their buying. This is hard to do via the internet, a story or compelling image will do you wonders.
3. Utilize social media. It's free! At any given point I can post to instagram and potentially have 205k eyes looking and reading. That has never been accessible before. We are literally rewriting business books because of these free avenues.
4. Work your ass off : ) nothing comes easy.
