Drink for Good

Drink For Good spawned from me wanting to be an entrepreneur that could sell a unique product and also give back to the people, places and animals that need our support the most. It was important that my products would be collaboratively made with recycled materials, and manufactured in the United States.

Being from Portland, everyone here is trying to live more sustainably and one of the things most people here have is a reusable water bottle. Ding! Then it all came together - I would partner with different artists and charities from around the world to make reusable water bottles, "Cause Bottles," that gave back to different causes.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

I earned my first sale from an organization that I partner with. Each bottle represents a unique cause and every bottle is tied to a different organization. Once I pitched the idea of the Cause Bottles to the organizations they immediately got on board and were/are still my biggest supporters. They constantly use their social media reach to advertise the bottles (because they like what I'm doing and because $2.00 from every bottle goes back to their cause.)

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

Shopify apps are great and I use tons of them to run Drink For Good. I use Printful for printing on-demand apparel orders (we've branched out to "Dress For Good" as welll.)

I use Shippo for no-hassle shipping. Some other helpful apps I have installed are Retailtower, Shopify Facebook Store, Shopify Order Printer, and SEO Meta Manager. These apps are all an integral part of running my website.

What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?

Have a genuine relationship with your customers and social media audience. I never like to feel like I'm being bombarded with "buy, buy, buy" messages from the businesses and organizations I follow, so I try to be very balanced in my marketing approach.
