JAQET

JAQET was launched in 2012 with three products. I've always had the idea of having my own brand, wanting to control the vision and direction of the brand on my own.

All JAQET products are made in house by a small team of very passionate and caring craftsmen and women. While designing and producing was our first challenge, the next was how to get the products into customers hands. Right away, I knew I wanted a webstore where people could immediately experience the brand and story, as well as have the opportunity to purchase a quality accessory.

Creating this website/store was our next big challenge and Shopify was essential in making that happen. After doing some research on what it meant to design and build a webstore, it was clear that I needed plenty of help and guidance. Using Shopify, however, that help and guidance was built in from the beginning and we did not need to dump a bunch of cash into getting a website up and running. JAQET now has almost a dozen products offered in a variety of colors through our website as well as several stockists located internationally.

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

Our first sales came through sharing our story through our facebook page as well as other social media outlets.

Once the word was out, several blogs and publications caught on and wanted to hear more about our story and how we got started. This simply led to more and more sales as well as plenty of interest from shops wanting to stock our line.

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

We pretty much stick solely to Shopify for all the logistical parts of the business. We process and fulfill orders on a daily basis. Shopify on the phone make it super easy to always have an idea of what we can expect for the day or week no matter where we are or what we doing during the day.

We use our Google Analytics info in tandem with Shopify to break down exactly what kind of customers we are getting.

What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?

I'd say that one of the biggest compliments we get about our store is the branding / design of it. This is something we focused heavily on from the beginning so that all visitors would experience the shop as we intended. Shopify templates make it very easy to control this element, unlike the other webstore platforms, and i think all shop owners should really focus on this and take advantage.

Create your brand identity and vibe from the very beginning of a potential customer coming to your website. The experience of your store should not be under valued. Take advantage of how easy Shopify makes it to give your store a unique and special feel. Your store should feel like you spent thousands on it, when in reality Shopify can make it happen for an extremely fair price!
