OurWorldBoutique is a women's clothing, jewelry, and accessories online boutique.
What are the key factors that have helped your store be successful?
I've been selling online since 2001. My first business I grew to 2 million a year then went bankrupt. I was a good salesman but I didn't understand finances. After my bankruptcy I decided to learn how to run a business. I read several books. My favorite is The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. It changed my mindset on automation. I realized I was the bottleneck in my business.
OurWorldBoutique started when a friend approached me with the idea and it quickly grew. We focused on building a loyal customer base. I had figured out the logistics like shipping, ordered, and warehousing from my previous experience. So OurWorldBoutique grew quickly, only because of the 10 previous years of learning the hard way.
What are your top recommendations for new store owners?
Read. Search out good books and read. If you understand business and finance you can make any good idea work. Build processes and procedures. Focus on what you can control. Find good people to help. Invest in them. Invest in tech. Find software that will make your job easier. Too many people in an effort to save money spend way too much time that is better spent on bigger things.
Any Closing Remarks?
OurWorldBoutique grew quickly, only because of the 10 previous years of learning the hard way.
