Three Irish Girls Yarn Inc. is an independent hand dyed yarn business. We provide yarn for fiber enthusiasts who love rich color and luxurious bases to create their own one of a kind knit, spun or crocheted item.
Three Irish Girls Yarn is a name that has been around for ten years, but has gained more and more exposure recently with the switch to an easier shopping cart system and more modern website. We're able to showcase our yarn beautifully for our online and wholesale customers.
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
We were mostly a wholesale only site in the beginning, but with the introduction of our monthly yarn clubs and sales promotions on our website we've been able to generate over $10,000/month in online sales alone.
We also sell wholesale to yarn shops nationally and internationally which does not run through our shopping cart system.
Google, Pinterest, Ravelry, Facebook and Yarnaholic (one of our wholesale shops in Japan) have been some of our top referrals.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
We use Build a Business for the initial website set up and Digital Downloads for our customers to have the ability to download patterns directly from our website.
What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?
Don't be afraid to start. We've found that the Shopify system was extremely user friendly and that we could find online support if and when we needed it. We love that we can track each product's sales and can check our Dashboard every day to see where our top referrals are coming from. This helps us target our market and fine tune our advertising to increase sales.
