[MUSIC PLAYING] You've done the work. Now it's time to put it to use. You built an avatar. You used that avatar to find interests that are related to that particular avatar. And now we're going to use those interests to build audiences inside of Facebook. Let's hop into the Audience section and make it happen. All right, so here we are inside of the Facebook Ads Manager.
0:27
We're going to click the left menu at the top. We're going to go to All Tools. And under the Assets column, we're going to click on the Audiences button. This is going to take us into our Audiences section, where we have the opportunity to create audiences or groups of people who we want to target with our ads. A quick note about this is the goal here is to have between 6 and 10 groupings of interests that we're going to target.
0:55
And we want those group sizes to be between 500,000 and 3 million. So the way that we're going to start doing this is we're going to click the Create Audience button. We have a couple options here. From this button, we're going to go down to Saved Audience. What this means is that this is an audience that we're creating and we're saving it for future use. So we're going to click Saved Audience.
1:19
And that's going to open up a pop-up window where we're able to set the specifics of who is going to be in this audience. I'm going to name this Grandma Avatar number 1. Now, the first thing that we want to do is we want to figure out where we are targeting people. In my case, that's in the United States. So I'm going to leave this as it is. The next thing that we want to do is we want to set our age range.
1:45
Again, if you don't know the age range of your avatar, you can leave this blank. And your data from your ads will tell you who's the most interested. For me, I know that my customers are 45 and over. So I'm going to select 45 to 65 plus. And I'm also going to select women because I know that 98% of my buyers are women. Now, here's the fun part. What we're going to do in this detailed targeting section is we're going to begin copying over the interest that we saved from the Audience Insights tool.
2:15
And we're going to pay attention to this potential reach number up here. This is the number that we want to be between 500,000 and 3 million per saved audience. If you go up to 4 million or 5 million, that's totally OK. I'd like to start with between 500,000 and 3 million to start to keep it tight. But, eventually, your audience sizes are going to grow as you scale.
2:39
So I'm literally going to go into my Boom document here. And I'm going to begin copying over audiences that I found into the detailed targeting box. First, I'm going to put Coldwater Creek. And you can see that this particular interest has 414,000 people. And I can also target the people who work there. I don't want to target people who work at Coldwater Creek. So I'm going to select the interest. And what you'll notice is this number up here went from 50 million, which is the total number of women over 45 on Facebook, down to 370,000.
3:10
That's a little too small. So I'm going to add another interest. Now I have J. Jill. That's another clothing brand. I like to do these groupings based on the avatar interests that we set up. So I'll group all my influencers together, all my brands together, all my magazines together into a saved audience. It doesn't so much matter how you group these audiences together. It's just a little bit easier to remember if you group them by category.
3:35
So that's why I like to do it that way. So now as I scroll down, I see J. Jill here. I'm going to select that. And now I'm up to 480,000. That's still a little too small. So I'm going to add another clothing brand. One thing to remember is not every interest or every fan page or every influencer that you find in Audience Insights is going to show up in the Saved Audience section.
4:01
If you have one that doesn't show up, you can just delete it and skip it and move on to the next one. So here's Chico's. Again, it wants to let me target the people who work there. I'm not interested in that. So I'm going to click on the clothing retailer. And that's a really big interest. You'll notice that now I'm up to 1.6 million people who are between 45 and 65 in the United States who have either a Chico's interest, a Coldwater Creek interest, or a J. Jill interest.
4:27
This is a good enough audience size for me. I prefer to stay between 500,000 and 3 million. So what I'm going to do now is save this audience and move on to the next one. So in order to save this audience, all you do is click the Create Audience button. And what you'll notice is that then shows up right there in your Audiences tab. You see that it has the name Grandma's Avatar. And when you hover over it, it's going to show you who's in that audience.
4:51
It's going to give you the size of that audience. And it's going to tell you that it's ready for you to advertise with. So go ahead, use the document of interest that you created to make at least six and even more than 10 if you have interest audiences.
