JADE DARMAWANGSA: Hey guys, welcome back. Today we're going to be talking about how to reach out to these so-called influencers. Previously, we went over how to set up your growth strategy. You should have the campaign ready to go. In this lesson, we'll be reaching out to influencers. As you know, the main strategy we're doing to grow this account is a giveaway powered through influencers and other people, so you really need other people's help and you need other involvement of the community.
I know what you might be thinking, you're like, Jade I reached out and DMed people before it just didn't work. How do you work with big influencers? See the key with this is you have to provide value to that person. The worst thing you could possibly do is just DM someone with a million followers and ask them for a shout-out. I don't even have a million followers but I've been bombarded with that. So I can't imagine how many messages those people get. The key really is to have a win-win situation for you, the influencer, and the audience.
So this video, I will be explaining how to reach out to these influencers you want to work with. How to make you sound valuable so you can get them to reply. All right let's start with the first step, which is DMing the influencer. Revisit the 50 names of influencers and brands that you created in the past lesson. What you want to do is find their profile and hit message. Now you're ready to create your first script. My recommendation for a script looks like this. Talk about your brand, talk about what the message is about, talk about what the value is you're bringing to them, talk about other people that are involved in the campaign as well, and then ask them if they have questions or call to action.
This is how it should look altogether. Hey, my name's Jade. I work on Retro Reprises Instagram, and we're having a huge collaborative giveaway. This is a great way to give your audience some items and grow tons of exposure because we have five influencers working in this campaign, all of which above 10,000 followers. All right, so that's a first example of a script. Now, if you're like Jade. Here's an issue, I don't have those people I'm working with. How can I say that these people are part of the campaign when they're not at the start?
Now, you have a really good point. My recommendation is at the beginning when there's no responses start with relying on your personal network to confirm. So if you have a friend that has maybe some followers, you can ask them to start, really want to at least have a first name that's involved in the campaign, so it looks like there's more people joining in. This is a great method because it makes the influencers think that there's multiple people involved.
Therefore, I don't want to miss out on this huge opportunity to get exposure, and therefore, giving your brand authority and leverage to make the influencer reply. All right, so hit send once you have that message. And you want to repeat this for all your 50 influencers. Like I mentioned, you only want to get three or four people in the campaign. So if people reply later, it's OK, maybe you can save them for another campaign. The reason why you want to do 50 messages is because for every 10 people, typically one person responds.
So if you're looking for a handful of people, you will need a message around 50 to get the people that you want. At the beginning of this course, I did mention if you're struggling to find influencers, you can go back to your persona that you made for your niche, for example, Katie, and go to a profile of Katie and see who they're following and you can of build that list with them. So you can of revisit that niche list if you're ever struggling to find 50 influencers in the right size. Now, you might send 50 messages, and you're going to hear crickets silence.
OK. I'm a pro at this because I've messaged I think 100 people at one point a day. And I remember the number one thing I would struggle with is the follow up process. It's a little bit awkward limbo when someone sees your message or opens it, but doesn't reply. Like, what do you do? So my recommendation is if you send 50 messages and in two days you hear radio silence, you can send a follow up. Follow ups are great because it helps your message appear into their inbox more often, and it also shows that you're interested in them.
Follow ups just need to be short. It could be as simple as, hey, just a follow up. We have these people on board. Tag the influencers maybe that are on board. Let me know if you'd be interested to participate. I really recommend a follow up once, maximum twice. If they don't reply it's OK. You can always revisit them next time. But you really want to space it out in regards to like two day increments, so It's not all bunched together. All right, so now that you know how to reach out to someone and you get people to reply, you can respond with the campaign details that you have, the people that are involved, and what they need to do to be a part of it.
Your next step is to message those 50 influencers to see if you can get three to five of them a part of your campaign. And hopefully, they're your top picks. All right, so to recap, make sure you reach out to influencers. Your want to make sure you have those three to five influencers confirm, so you're able to launch your campaign as soon as possible.
