This course was co-created by different key members of the Shopify team who are responsible for attracting the top talent and keeping them happy through creating a vibrant, inclusive culture.

[MUSIC PLAYING] CHELSEA RUDDERHAM: Welcome to hiring top talent. My name is Chelsea Rudderham and I work on the talent acquisition team here at Shopify. I'll be kicking off this course by teaching you some of the strategies to find the best potential candidates to grow your business. Apart from myself, this course features some of Shopify's finest who have been key in growing the company from a handful of employees to just over 2,000 people today. We're really excited to help you not only find and hire the best talent but also how to keep them happy once they're a part of your team.
So let's get started. As a researcher on the talent acquisition team, my job is to partner with the company and inform the recruitment process. This is done through sourcing and engaging with potential candidates as well as researching anything that affects how we hire talent. So I spend a lot of time researching the moving pieces in the recruitment process the local talent pool, market trends, layoffs, industry news, or even learning how other companies are recruiting.
So we can continue to refine our own process. Hiring the best talent can be time consuming and frustrating at the best of times but in order to build the best product or a resilient company with a happy team, it all starts with finding the right recruitment process that speaks to the values and goals of your business. Thus it's really important to identify exactly what the needs and challenges of the business are and find talent equally passionate about being a part of that journey.
