Welcome back. Let's dive into your audience when a visitor lands on your site. You can actually pick up certain attributes about the visitor through their web browser preview will automatically recognize if this is a first time visitor or repeat. You'll be able to tell if they came from a Google ad or a Facebook app. You can even see what pages on your site they're looking at and whether or not they added any products to the cart made in order before.
And so much more think about how relevant your marketing message would be if you started by first understanding who this visitor really is and where they are in the visitor journey for the purposes of our simple list growth framework. I like to zoom in on two specific audiences that set the stage for successful list growth. The first is your new visitors. These are people that are not on your email list.
They've never purchased before. They are here for the very first time. This audience the first time visitor group is the largest audience you have on your site. Some people also call this top of the funnel. It's this group of people that also happen to have the lowest visitor to order conversion rate typically in the 1% to 2% range. So if this is your largest audience but it converts at the lowest rate then there are tons of first time visitors on your store who will never make a purchase.
This is a great audience to target with a form to join your email list and educate them about your brand and products through email. That way you can warm them up and then bring them back to your store when they're ready. Another common powerful audience to focus on is visitors who are not on your list have added a product to their cart but have never purchased. This is a middle of the funnel audience since they'd browse the site and shown serious interest by clicking.
Add to Cart. But are still not yet customers. If you're new to list growth, focus on these two great target groups of visitors each with specific attributes and behaviors. Awesome So when should you show them the form to join your list. Join me in less than two as we cover triggers.
