Online tipping gives your buyers the option to tip a percentage of their order total, or a custom amount, on the payment page of checkout. You can easily customize the online tipping feature so your customers understand how they’re helping: financially supporting your fulfillment team, raising money for charity, or anything else you can think of.

While tipping is more common in certain industries, including restaurants, it’s a feature that enables buyers everywhere to support businesses they love—even when there isn’t a product or service they want to buy at this moment.

Tipping is available today for anyone who wants to use it. We just launched it over the last few days or weeks. So definitely check it out the way it looks, we'll pop in a demo here so you can take a look as I’m describing it, but throughout your checkout flow, you can enable it and at that point, the buyer, when they’re on the payment method step, will see the option to add a tip.
We call it tipping but you can actually do a couple of different configurations with it behind the scenes. So it isn’t necessarily just have to be tips. Yeah, what, what else can they use it for? Because I know once the money comes in, like, how is it, how is it, like, tied to an employee, like how is it, how is that manage and what freedom does it give them? Yeah, sure. So first of all, when you’re collecting money in this new area around tipping we calculated it separately.
So you'll be able to go in and look around at how much has been donated or given into that particular space. So it will be isolated out from just different additional line items inside of your order. But the way you can customize it right. We provide some default text there that says tipping with a description, we can go ahead into those files and change that text to whatever it is that you want.
So you could potentially, so that if you want to, if you’re asking people to donate to a local charity or if you want to just generally ask for a little bit more support towards your business, you can make those tweaks and then because you’re able to see how much has been donated in that particular space, decide how to use that income. That makes most sense for your business.
