Welcome to module 1 of this course and in this module, we're going to dive into some of the platforms that you can use, as well as how to start collecting phone numbers in order to engage in text marketing. Now text marketing is a permission based marketing channel meaning that you need to get consent from each subscriber in order to send them a text. So if someone comes to your website and throughout their purchase journey they give you their phone number that does not mean that you can send them a text.
So you need to make sure that every single opt in that you have on your website is fully compliant. Now, you have two government agencies like the FCC and the FTC that have put together a regulation called the TPA the telephone consumer Protection Act to ensure that marketers are not spamming when engaging in tax marketing. Now, every platform that I'm going to recommend for you has complaints built in.
But I always recommend talking to a lawyer to ensure that you are fully compliant. Now, if you're ready and the next video, we're going to dive into some of the platforms that you can. So using today in order to engage in text marketing.
