Set up and use Shopify Counter

Step-by-step instructions to set up your sales and order counter

Set up the counter app

  1. Add the Counter app to your store by selecting “Add app”.
  2. Log in to your Shopify admin then select “Install app”.
  3. Once your app is installed, select "Set up your Counter".
  4. Select the data to display, and the date range to use. Select “Next”.
  5. Copy the JSON URL and keep the tab open. You’ll need it in Step 3.
  6. Helpful tip: Make sure to keep your instructions nearby, you'll need them for steps 2 and 3.

Create your account

  1. Create an account at my.smiirl.com
  2. You’ll then receive an email with the subject line “Complete your Smiirl account registration” to activate your my.smiirl account.
  3. Select “Activate my account” in your email which prompts you to create a new password.
  4. Helpful tip: It could take a minute or two to receive the email. If you haven’t received the email, be sure to check your spam folder.

Connect your counter

  1. Pair device

    1. Once you've activated your Smiirl account and you're logged in, click “Install”.
    2. Enter your unique Counter ID (located on the back of the Counter) in the space provided and select “Save”

  1. Connect counter to your network

    1. Choose your preferred internet connection (Via Wi-Fi or Via Ethernet), then follow the guided steps on the Smiirl site to connect.
    2. Connecting to the internet takes a few minutes. The remaining flaps will go from blank to striped when it’s connected.
    3. Helpful tip: Don’t click Restart unless your counter shows only 1 or 2 striped flaps.

  1. Connect your store data

    1. Paste your JSON URL, from Step 1, in the space provided, select “Number” under Attribute, and select “Save”. The status of your counter will change from, “Never connected” to “Connected”!
    2. Helpful tip: Hold off on unplugging the counter. It may take a few minutes for orders to appear.
