The challenge

After making the strategic decision to transition from Adobe Commerce to Shopify due to previous challenges around product launch speed and website response time, BONIA wanted to leverage its online presence to expand internationally. BONIA recognized that, to do this, it needed to deliver a personalized experience to customers while upholding a uniform brand identity across diverse markets. Additionally, the fashion brand aimed to ensure that overseeing multiple websites did not become an onerous time and cost burden on its team.

The solution

In 2021, BONIA embarked on an innovative partnership with Meekco, culminating in an upgrade to Shopify Plus. The strategic move empowered BONIA to harness the Shopify Plus expansion stores feature, enabling the creation of multiple online storefronts in addition to its flagship Malaysian site. Leveraging this capability, BONIA seamlessly imported the themes and layouts from its Malaysian store while ensuring each new store exuded a distinct and localized charm, a factor accomplished by site-specific customization. Shopify Plus’s organizational admin portal also played a pivotal role, offering BONIA a centralized command center for all its stores.

The results

The implementation of Shopify Plus expansion stores proved instrumental for BONIA's online expansion into Singapore and Indonesia. These strategic additions not only extended the brand's geographical reach but also allowed for the creation of highly customized, localized experiences tailored to each country's unique audience. This localization, in turn, fostered deeper engagement with potential customers and contributed to a notable uptick in overall site traffic. Additionally, BONIA effectively streamlined the management of its multiple stores through the Shopify Plus organization admin, with the centralized hub providing enhanced visibility into every facet of BONIA's online operations, liberating valuable resources that could be redirected toward more high-impact endeavors.
