Introduce your business and tell us your story: How did you decide on what to sell, and how did you source your products?
I saw a niche in the retro industry and thought - with my web design skills and social media marketing skills - that I could build a successful online shop. I have been selling online for years, but with social media it's a lot easier to become successful (if you know how to use it). To source my products, I found other companies to buy wholesale from ( I checked out the popular brands and opened accounts). Now I manufacture my own clothing.
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
It was through Facebook, of course! Facebook and Instagram are definitely my biggest traffic generators.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
These are key in any clothing business: Wishlist, Back In Stock, Sweet Tooth Loyalty Program, and Better Coupon Box. I do all fulfillment internally right now.
What are your top recommendations for new store owners?
Start out small, use social media to your advantage, and for God's sake, take GREAT PHOTOS! My sales skyrocketed once I got a good camera and some lighting along with some professional models.
